Privacy Policy for Nomeva (iOS)

In short: there is no account, no advertising and no tracking. Your entries are stored on your device and – if iCloud is on – in your private iCloud storage at Apple. We cannot see them.

1. Data on your device

Your profile (name, date of birth, height, weight, goals), diary, water, body measurements, activities, fasting, your own foods and recipes are stored locally only.

2. iCloud backup

If the backup is turned on, the app stores a copy of your data in your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). Only you have access. You can turn off and delete the backup in the settings.

3. Shared library

If you share foods or recipes via iCloud, the people you invite see these foods and recipes – not your diary.

4. Food search

Search terms and scanned barcodes are sent to our server (m.codepa.de, Germany) to find matching foods. If our server finds nothing, the app asks Open Food Facts (France) directly. No data about you is transmitted in the process. For technical reasons, the servers briefly store the IP address in logs.

5. Sharing foods

If you turn on “Share with everyone” when creating a food, its name, brand, barcode, nutritional values, portions and the product photo are sent to our server and become searchable for all users. A random device ID is added to limit abuse. The photo is saved anew, without metadata such as location or camera.

6. Logging by photo or text

On devices with Apple Intelligence, your photo or text is analysed directly on the device and does not leave it. Otherwise – and only with your consent – it is sent to our server and from there to Anthropic PBC (USA) to recognise the foods. Photos and texts are not stored and not used for training. The transfer to the USA is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

7. Apple Health

If the app reads steps, active energy or weight from Apple Health, this data stays on the device. Data is only written if you allow it in the settings.

8. Purchase

The trial period and purchase are handled by Apple. We do not receive any payment data.

9. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Since we do not store any data about you apart from the server logs mentioned above, you can exercise most rights directly in the app (export, deletion in the settings). Legal bases: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (app features), (a) (consent for photo/text recognition and Apple Health), (f) (operation and protection of the servers).

10. This website

When you visit nomeva.app, our web server processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, requested page, browser identifier) in logs in order to deliver the site and protect it against abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics tools and loads no content from third parties. Fonts are served from our own server.
